Well, since I went to the college, it has been very common for me to help other people with subjects like math or English. But today I’m not going to talk about these experiences. The experience I would like to share today is about cooking teaching.

Last month I invited a few of friends to come to my home. I cooked a few dishes and they spoke highly of them. One of my friends, Emily, expressed her interest in braised pork chops and she wanted to learn it from me. I was very happy to teach her, so we agreed that the next weekend she came to my home and I taught her the way to cook this meal. When that day came, she showed in my home as we agreed. Before the teaching, I asked her to take notes of the names of all sauces we were going to use, like vinegar, cooking vine and soybean sauce etc. All these are necessities in cooking the braised pork chops. After cleaning the pork, I directed her how to fry the pork, when to add the sauces and how to control the gas. Emily took a video and recorded the whole process.

I was very pleased to teach my friend how to cook. The way I cook braised pork chops is something I learned from my mother. The situation that she taught me hand by hand seems to happen in yesterday. Sometimes the food we eat conveys some precious memory. My friend said she would think of me whenever she cooks this dish at home. Sometimes, the change of relationship among people, no matter in a good way or bad way, appears just because of the slight thing or decision you’ve made. This dish becomes the bond of our friendship and has different meaning in our life. I felt honored to hear that.
